William E. Schireman

William “Bill” Schireman is the founding member of Intelligent Divorce Solutions, LLC. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, graduating in 1980. He next earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Willamette University College of Law, in Salem, Oregon, graduating in 1983.

Mr. Schireman practiced law initially with the USAF Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1984 to 1995. His focus was litigation, both as a Trial Counsel (prosecutor) and as an ADC (area defense counsel). After being promoted to the grade of Major, he was selected as a CTC (circuit trial counsel) and prosecuted high level felony matters involving senior Air Force enlisted members and officers, primarily in Europe.

After leaving the Air Force, Bill returned to his hometown in Medford, Oregon, and worked as a litigator for an insurance defense firm, and later opened his own firm doing Family Law for 28 years. During those years he tried or resolved hundreds of Family Law cases involving divorce and custody matters. He was then recruited by several Judges to accept a position with the local Circuit Court as the Civil Hearings Referee. In that role he oversaw more than 2500 contested matters involving divorce, custody, probate, guardianship, and juvenile dependency matters. In addition to all that litigation, he also served as a mediator and arbitrator in over two-hundred cases.

All of the experiences litigating and resolving cases has led him to the firmly held belief that in many cases; the time, expense, loss of control, and stress of a divorce trial just aren’t worth it. There are better ways to do it.

In 2024, Mr. Schireman obtained his certification as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ and retired from the active practice of law. His vast experience and expertise help provide guidance through the difficult and complex financial issues of a divorce. He welcomes the opportunity to help clients, mediators, and attorneys reach a settlement that fully addresses his clients’ short-term and long-term needs. But, if a settlement isn’t possible, he is very comfortable in the courtroom.

Take advantage of his experience to keep the “big picture” in mind.
